Tyrone Mings signs new three-and-a-half year deal with Aston Villa after reclaiming his place in the team's starting XI... having been stripped of the captaincy and dropped by Steven Gerrard at the start of the season

Tyrone Mings returned to training on Friday as he aimed to celebrate his new Aston Villa contract by regaining his place in the team to face Arsenal on Saturday.

The Aston Villa centre-back has agreed a new three-and-a-half-year deal with the club days after missing their 3-1 defeat at Manchester City last weekend due to a thigh injury.

Mings has remained a hugely important part of Villa’s squad despite having the captaincy taken from him by former boss Steven Gerrard, and the new deal reflects current manager Unai Emery’s admiration for the England defender.
