Stiliyan Petrov's dream comeback from leukaemia has come to an end, with the former Aston Villa admitting defeat in his attempt to return to professional football.
Petrov made a return to the Villa first team in pre-season, four years after being forced into retirement by his diagnosis.
But the comeback has proved short-lived, with Petrov conceding that it had not gone to plan and he would not play professionally again, as Villa declined to hand him a new contract.
'There will be no comebacks,' he told Bulgarian TV.
