Aston Villa's away day blues continued as two goals in six minutes condemned them to another disappointing defeat on Tuesday night.
Reading opened the scoring in the 49th minute when shot took a wicked deflection off Glenn Whelan and looped over the keeper.
Modou Barrow doubled Reading's advantage six minutes later when he prodded home from close range.
Conor Hourihane scored a late consolation.
