Rangers are poised to push through a double swoop for former England defender Joleon Lescott and Preston striker Joe Garner.
Lescott, 34, arrived in Glasgow on Thursday night ahead of a medical on Friday. Aston Villa have agreed to cancel the final year of his contract and make up the difference between his £35,000-a-week deal and what Rangers propose to pay.
The ex-Wolves, Everton and Manchester City star, capped 26 times for his country, is expected to sign a two-year deal and could go straight into the squad for Saturday's visit of Motherwell.
Garner, 28, will also undergo medical tests on Friday, but his move is unlikely to be concluded before Monday after delays caused by a change of agent.
