PETE JENSON: Nicolas Jackson was playing in Spain's third tier a year ago but a blistering end to the season saw Chelsea splash £32m on him... he is raw but Pochettino will improve him

It's been some year for new Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson. Twelve months ago he was playing third tier football for Villarreal’s B-team, and doing it very well.

It was his double against Nastic de Tarragona that got the club’s second string promoted into Spain’s Division Two at the end of last season.

He had dropped back down to help them out and proved, if anyone at the club doubted it, that he was ready for the first team.

Unai Emery certainly saw things that way and picked him to start eight of the 11 games he took charge of the following season before he left the club to join Aston Villa.
