Former Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has become the preferred candidate to become the new manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Lambert, who left his last job with Blackburn Rovers at the end of last season, impressed the Molineux outfit after he was interviewed for the vacant manager's job with sources saying he 'got the job' having initially been placed on a shortlist with Nigel Pearson and Tim Sherwood.
The 47-year-old Scot is regarded as something of a Championship specialist having led Norwich City to promotion to the Premier League.
And his know-how of English football was attractive to Wolves' Chinese owners who sacked the Italian goalkeeping legend Walter Zenga after less than three months in charge following poor results that left them 18th in the table.
