It is coming up to three years since Jack Grealish announced his talent to the wider world in that FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool at Wembley.
The touches, the vision, the confidence all pointed to a teenage player of supreme quality. The surge into the big time did not quite materialise as expected, however, with a number of well-documented tribulations seeing Grealish establish a different reputation.
This season though, away from the spotlight, Aston Villa’s brightest hope has begun to shine again. Grealish has been a pivotal performer in Steve Bruce’s side recording six successive Championship wins and heading into Sunday’s Second City derby, where a rare Villa Park sell-out is predicted, there is great expectation the TV cameras might capture something special again.
