Newcastle boss Steve Bruce has revealed that three players who featured in the 2-1 win over West Brom had recently recovered from the illness.
Relieved Magpies manager Bruce praised his players for bouncing back from the club's coronavirus crisis after Miguel Almiron served up the best possible response to a gruelling fortnight.
The striker opened the scoring after 19 seconds, only for Darnell Furlong to equlise during the second half.
After seeing substitute Dwight Gayle snatched the points with a late header, Bruce said: 'I can't give enough credit to the players and the staff.
