'I make no apologies for standing up for what I believe in': England and Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings hails the 'energy and passion' of the Black Lives Matter movement as he joins demonstrators in Birmingham

England defender Tyrone Mings has posted images on his Twitter account that appear to show him at a Black Lives Matter demonstration in Birmingham on Thursday.

The Aston Villa centre-back wrote: 'Nothing but energy & passion today. I make no apologies for standing up for what I believe in' next to three photographs, two of which seem to show Mings wearing a face mask and a hooded jacket, alongside other demonstrators. The words 'Won't Be Silenced' are written on the mask.

The turnout was estimated at about 4,000 by West Midlands Police, and took place in Centenary Square, in the centre of the city.
