Graham Taylor’s death on Thursday was met with shock across the football world.
A heart attack at the age of 72 was a surprise to many who knew him and was met with sadness at the clubs where he had made the biggest impact – Lincoln, Watford and Aston Villa – and the football community in general.
But one thing Taylor’s death did do is bring out lots of stories that summed up what kind, generous person he was.

Players such as Alan Shearer were quick to pay tribute for giving him his international debut, while the likes of Peter Crouch and Ashley Young also spoke of the respect they had for him.
