Gordon Strachan will make a personal check on 35-year-old Blackburn Rovers defender Gordon Greer on Saturday ahead of next week's 'Battle of Britain' World Cup qualifier against England.
While Gareth Southgate's squad will exclusively be made up of Premier League players when it is named on Sunday, the relatively limited resources available to Strachan is underlined by the 59-year-old Scotland manager's presence at Villa Park to watch the Championship game between Aston Villa and Blackburn.
Greer has won 11 caps for his country - losing only once against France - and joined Blackburn last summer having been released by Brighton & Hove Albion.
