Josh Onomah’s deflected equaliser gave Aston Villa a draw at Ashton Gate that gave their positive week a handy conclusion.
Villa looked destined for defeat when Jamie Paterson fired Bristol City ahead on 60 minutes after free-kick - conceded by John Terry - rattled around the penalty area.
But Onomah saw his 25-yard effort deflect in off Marlon Pack just five minutes later as Villa claimed a share of the spoils that their performance merited.
They had to rely on another stroke of fortune, however, as Eros Pisano struck the woodwork for the hosts at 1-1 with Villa holding on for a draw to follow two wins and eight goals earlier this week in the Championship and Carabao Cup.
