Brighton were left hanging on for a draw as Aston Villa piled on the pressure in search of a late winner at the Amex.
Villa had the better of the contest at the home of the Championship's second-placed side but only left with a 1-1 draw. Steve Bruce's side got the opener when Nathan Baker headed home Albert Adomah's free-kick.
Glenn Murray fired home an outstanding equaliser to finish a move he started but after a brief spell of home pressure in the second half Villa looked most likely to get a winner. Brighton held firm and will be grateful for the point as they continue their Premier League promotion hunt.
