Steven Gerrard returned to the dugout for Aston Villa's trip to the Brentford Community Stadium but walked away empty handed.

Danny Ings opened the scoring for the visitors in the 16th minute of the game. However, Yoane Wissa found an equaliser in the 46th before Mads Roerslev provided the winner.
