The future of the FA Cup looks to be a battle between romantics and cynics and it was hard not to side with Blackpool boss Neil Critchley after his team earned another crack at a third-round upset.
As Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo added his voice to the list of Premier League managers wanting to do away with replays, Critchley — who worked at Liverpool and was briefly Steven Gerrard’s assistant at Aston Villa — made a compelling case for one of the Cup’s greatest traditions.
