Atlanta United have suffered a big blow between the posts with veteran goalkeeper Brad Guzan set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after scans revealed a torn MCL in his left knee.
Guzan, a former Aston Villa stopper, will miss 10 to 12 weeks according to a club statement issued Tuesday.
The injury occurred during a collision with NYCFC forward Gabe Segal in the 18th minute of Saturday's 1-1 tie in New York.
It is a bitter blow to the Georgia franchise who lost Guzan for the majority of its last campaign thanks to a ruptured Achilles tendon on his right side, endured last April.
