Aston Villa’s revival under Unai Emery has been one of the stories of the season and attention to detail is one of the key components of the work that has taken them to second place in the Premier League.
One man who is a crucial part of that structure is set-piece coach Austin MacPhee, who also holds the same role for the Scotland side heading to Euro 2024 under manager Steve Clarke.
Statistics this week showed Villa have scored 14 goals from set pieces this season, the highest in Europe’s top five leagues.
It is a tribute to the work of the highly-regarded MacPhee, who has become an important part of Emery’s Villa.
