Aston Villa remain keen to sign Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur and are ready to table an improved offer.
Villa manager Steven Gerrard sees the Uruguay international as the ideal replacement for holding midfielder Marvelous Nakamba, who suffered a knee injury in December.
As revealed by MailOnline last week, Villa made an approach for Bentancur, offering approximately £18million (€22million) for the Uruguay international.
