Aston Villa are finalising the transfer of Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson after re-structuring their offer.
Marseille coach Andre Villas-Boas branded their opening bid as 'pathetic' earlier this week but, with the French club eager for funds, Villa have still been able to negotiate a total fee of around £15.5million for Sanson.
The 26-year-old had been valued at £22m by Marseille, who have just brought in striker Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli, but Villa are understood to have offered £14m with a further £1.5m in add-ons.
Sanson was left out of the Marseille squad to face Monaco on Saturday night and is due in Birmingham this week once his visa is granted.
