Aston Villa will try to offload Gabby Agbonlahor to MLS during the January transfer window with the striker ruled out of featuring for the first team.
Agbonlahor is training away from Roberto Di Matteo’s squad and is set to play for the Under-23 side in a match against Fulham on Monday night.
But a longer-term solution is being sought by the player and club and one possibility that has been raised is a move to the US.
It is thought Atlanta or Minnesota, clubs new for the 2017 MLS season, might be willing to take Agbonlahor, who has not played since March after being ruled overweight by Villa hierarchy.
