Steve Bruce believes he has signed 'Robbie Savage but a better footballer' by bringing Iceland international Birkir Bjarnason to Aston Villa.

The Villa manager laughed as he made the comparison between the player he once had in his Birmingham team and his latest £2million capture.

Bjarnason, who has played in the Champions League this season, was lured from Swiss league leaders Basle and Bruce believes Villa have pulled off a coup for the 28-year-old midfielder.
