Aston Villa and Brighton are CLEARED to play in Europe next season after UEFA found no conflicts relating to their multi-club ownership

Aston Villa and Brighton will be allowed to play in European football competitions next season after UEFA's Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) found that there were no conflicts relating to their multi-club ownership models.

It comes as the First Chamber of the CFCB had opened an investigation into both clubs who also have stakes in sides around Europe due to a 'potential conflict with the multi-club ownership rule'.

Aston Villa partly own Vitoria Sport Clube in Portugal, while Brighton also partly own Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.

Under Article 5 of the UEFA club competitions regulation, the governing body sets out its rules on the integrity of the competition, in particular relation to multi-club ownership models.
