The trouble with good old Arsenal is that bad old Arsenal keep showing up at inconvenient moments. Here was a case in point. At times, you can see exactly where Mikel Arteta is heading with this young team. They can be incisive and speedy, they move the ball well and with Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka, they have a backbone in midfield they once lacked.
And then their alter ego, the lackadaisical Arsenal, which switches off and goes to sleep and invites opponents to exploit their weaknesses shows up. And all that good work that might accrue is wasted.
