James Tarkowski led the way as Burnley survived an attacking onslaught from Aston Villa to collect the point that moved them out of the Premier League’s bottom three.
Villa had 26 shots and twice hit the woodwork through Anwar El Ghazi and Kortney Hause, but Burnley – with Tarkowski magnificent at the heart of the back four – followed up their surprise victory at Arsenal with another valuable result.
The home side will kick themselves for the chances they wasted, however. As well as his free-kick that was tipped on to the bar by Nick Pope, El Ghazi squandered several good chances as Villa failed to make the most of Jack Grealish’s creative brilliance.
