'What I can say is he is not injured and it is not for disciplinary reasons': Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp remains coy on whether Xherdan Shaqiri is departing after winger was left out of Carabao Cup loss to Arsenal

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp appeared to have suggested that Xherdan Shaqiri's absence from his Carabao Cup side was due to the wingers ongoing transfer negations.

Shaqiri was nowhere to be seen for Liverpool as they lost 4-3 to Arsenal on penalties after a goalless 90 minutes at Anfield, but Klopp was reluctant to say whether the Switzerland international would be leaving before the end of the transfer window.

Having impressed in the previous round against Lincoln City, it has been suggested that the club were unwilling to risk playing him incase an injury scuppers a potential move.
