West Ham do not want to sell Lucas Paqueta in this window, but the Brazilian's contract does contain an £85million buyout clause for next summer.
Manchester City have been linked with a £70m move for Paqueta this month.
But West Ham insiders say that is nowhere near their valuation, nor do they wish to lose their playmaker ahead of the new Premier League season.
City enquired about Paqueta at the same time that they made a move for Declan Rice, who ended up going to Arsenal for £105m.
