Werder Bremen have completed the signing of Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry for £4.5million.
Reports in Germany had suggested Bayern Munich were set to win the race for the midfielder and then loan him out to Werder, but the Bremen club have now announced a permanent deal.
Director of football Frank Baumann insisted at a press conference that the signing of Gnabry did not involve any other club, before the player was officially introduced.
After five years at Arsenal, where he never secured regular first team football, the 21-year-old is excited to get started after taking advice from former Gunners team-mates Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil, who are both former Bremen players.
