Sheffield Wednesday want to boost their prospects of a proposed return to the Premier League by bringing in former Arsenal defender Johan Djourou.
The centre-back is a free agent after departing German giants Hamburg earlier this summer and it has been claimed he is in talks with the Owls, though Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has refused to confirm or deny the speculation.
However, according to Swiss daily newspaper Blick, the Owls do want Djourou and are working hard to push through a deal for the 30-year-old.
The Switzerland international came through the youth ranks at Arsenal and had a series of loan spells before departing permanently to join Hamburg in 2014.
