Patrick Vieira sacked Crystal Palace coach Shaun Derry in a row over 'overstepping his role', it has been revealed.
The former Arsenal midfielder confirmed earlier this week that it was his decision to sack Derry from his role as Eagles first-team coach.
Derry, who represented Palace for six years as a player over two spells, was promoted to the first-team shortly after Vieira arrived at Selhurst Park after initially re-joining the club as part of the academy's coaching staff in 2019.
The Athletic has, however, revealed why the relationship between Vieira and Derry broke down, and it dates as far back as October, when Palace suffered a 3-0 defeat to strugglers Everton.
