Peter Shilton revealed on Sunday night he was praying for former England team-mate Kenny Sansom, who is fighting for his life following an alleged assault.
Sansom, 61, is in a serious condition in hospital with his family at his bedside.
Shilton, 70, who is England’s most-capped player and lined up for England for nine years alongside Sansom, said: ‘I’m praying for Kenny. He was the best left back I ever played with for England. And, off the pitch, he was always so likeable with a great sense of humour. I hope he gets through this and makes a speedy recovery.
