'My wife thought I had a heart attack': England physio Gary Lewin reveals his 2014 World Cup shock as needed treatment for dislocating his ankle celebrating a Daniel Sturridge goal

Ex-England and Arsenal physio Gary Lewin revealed the time he dislocated his ankle with the Three Lions at the 2014 World Cup.

The 55-year-old, who was head physiotherapist with the Gunners for 22 years, explained that he slipped and dislocated his ankle trying to pick up some drinks for the team during a match against Italy.

'(Daniel) Sturridge scored and we all jumped up to celebrate and because it was very humid we had this strategy in place where if a goal was scored for or against, the players would run over to the halfway line to get a drink,' he recalled to The Athletic.
