Mikel Arteta claims 'stats show Arsenal should have won the title' and explains why he 'is NOT getting over' heartbreak of falling short against Manchester City

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has claimed that stats prove Arsenal 'should' have won the Premier League last season.

Ultimately, the Gunners came up short against Manchester City in a thrilling title race that went down to the final day of the campaign.

Speaking from a training camp in Marbella, Arteta told ESPN: 'When you are analytical and you gather all the stats and everything the team has done over the past 11 months in the Premier League, we should have won it. That's what the stats say.'

Arteta did not elaborate on which specific measures show that Arsenal should have pipped City rather than the other way around.
