Arsenal's highest paid player Mesut Ozil will not feature in their clash against champions Liverpool after being ruled out with 'back soreness'.

It is the sixth successive match that the 31-year-old midfielder has been unable to play due to the problem.

Tuesday's news means that Ozil, who is on a £350,000-a-week deal, has not played any minutes for the Gunners since the Premier League restarted on June 17.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta did have Ozil as an option on the bench towards the end of June but he was not called upon.
