Our perfect start in the Continental Tyres Cup came to an end against Brighton on Sunday, as we were beaten 4-2 on penalties following a 0-0 draw.
We dominated possession from the off and created a number of half-chances, but it was the hosts who carved opened the first clear-cut opportunity, when Ellie Brazil latched on to a hopeful long ball and fired wide from inside the area.
This proved to be the wake-up call we needed, as we kicked things up a notch and placed the Seagulls under serious pressure. First, Katie McCabe headed wide from inside the six-yard area, before Kim Little fired over on the volley, and Beth Mead brushed the side netting on a one on one.
