We moved up to second in the Women’s Super League table on Sunday with an impressive 1-0 victory over Manchester City.
Vivianne Miedema scored the game’s only goal, taking her tally up to nine for the season across all competitions, while also inflicting City’s first defeat of 2019/20.
It was a slow start to the game with neither side wanting to overcommit, but with patience and a moment of sheer quality we were able to race behind City’s defence and break the deadlock on the stroke of half-time.
Having found a pocket of space 30 yards from goal, Kim Little waited for the perfect moment to release the ball and slip through Miedema, who raced in on goal and fired emphatically past Ellie Roebuck at the near post.
