Manchester United's head of sports medicine Gary O’Driscoll is leaving the club after just 18 months in the job, it has emerged.

Senior men’s first-team doctor Jim Moxon has also quit after two years at United to pursue another opportunity.

However, club sources say that the dual departure is a coincidence and not connected with the latest round of up to 200 redundancies.

O’Driscoll’s exit is a huge surprise after he left Arsenal after 14 years to join United in September 2023 and was described as ‘one of the most experienced and respected leaders in sports medicine’.
