Jon Rahm's LIV Golf move seemed normal. Not taboo, not controversial unlike previous defections. Maybe because it had been in the rumor mill for weeks it had become expected. Or maybe, because it was LIV Golf's biggest coup to date - a 2023 major winner who had remained loyal throughout the initial tidal wave of defections - it signaled a new era of golf, one where this is just the new normal.
LIV already had a 2023 major winner on its roster, in fact it already had a 2022 major winner too in Cam Smith, along with past major champions in the likes of Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau.
