Legends game funds upgrade for Hackney pitch

The Arsenal Foundation have helped to revamp sports facilities in Woodberry Down, thanks to money raised from the Legends match against Real Madrid.

The £75,000 investment, which has been made alongside Hackney Council and Berkeley Homes, has upgraded the estate’s pitch with a new surface, lighting, goalposts and fencing.

It will also allow Arsenal in the Community to host four hours' worth of training sessions at the facility every week, alongside the sports activities provided by Hackney Council.

Jeremie Aliadiere joined the Mayor of Hackney Philip Glanville and local youngsters to open the refurbished facility.

“It’s a pleasure to be here and help officially open the pitch”, said Aliadiere, who played in the Legends fixture that helped raise the funds.
