Dundee United have signed midfielder Kevin McDonald on a short-team deal, less than a year after the former Scotland cap's kidney transplant.
The 33-year-old, who started his career at city rivals Dundee, underwent the successful procedure last May.
The ex-Burnley, Wolves and Fulham man has been out of action since July 2020.
But a United statement reads McDonald "has trained with the squad throughout January and is immediately available for Tuesday's Dundee derby."
United also added Arsenal midfielder Tim Akinola to their squad on deadline day.
The 20-year-old, who joined the Premier League side from Huddersfield Town in 2020, has penned a loan deal until the end of the season.
