Inside Arsenal's return to training: No hugs or handshakes, stars had to arrive in their training gear, and fitness coach Shad Forsythe was leading the sessions... while dressing rooms and showers were OFF LIMITS

Arsenal opened the doors to their London Colney base for the first time in 47 days on Monday as English football took its first nervous steps towards normality.

Of course, there was nothing normal about Monday’s session: staggered arrivals, individual sessions, no showers and no post-session meal.

This was training, but not as we know it.

Arsenal's stars like David Luiz returned to their London Colney training base on Monday
It was the first time the north London side had opened their doors to their players in 47 days
Each player had their own bags of balls and trained on a pitch each to socially distance

It was voluntary, of course. Players were well within their rights to give it a miss. That would be understandable.

Yet the fact the vast majority of players reported underlines exactly how desperate the footballing community are to get back to playing football – or they are sick of the kids driving them up the wall.
