Kai Havertz got his third consecutive start for Germany at Euro 2024 and his 49th cap for the country in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Switzerland.
Germany thought they’d taken the lead in the 17th minute when Robert Andrich hit a swerving shot over the hands of Yann Sommer, but VAR intervened due to a foul by Jamal Musiala.
Moments later, Switzerland went ahead as Dan Ndoye lifted the ball high into the roof of the net from Remo Freuler’s cross.
Ruben Vargas had the ball in the back of the net again late on for Switzerland, but the flag was raised for offside before Havertz hit the crossbar at the other end.
