'Disgusted' Brentford vow to 'pursue' individuals who sent Ivan Toney 'racist and abusive messages' after 26-year-old scored late equaliser against Arsenal - four months after he was targeted after win over Brighton

Ivan Toney received a barrage of racist and abusive messages via his Instagram account' after Brentford’s game against Arsenal on Saturday.

The 26-year-old was targeted by the online trolls after he scored a 74th minute equaliser at the Emirates to see Brentford draw 1-1 with the Premier League leaders.

Brentford released a statement on Sunday morning to say they were 'disgusted and saddened' to hear about the abuse Toney had received.

The club called on football fans to 'respect and embrace our differences and celebrate the diversity that exists throughout the Premier League'.
