Chelsea are in the driving seat to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton - despite Liverpool on Friday having a bid accepted of what would have been a British transfer record £111million.
The Stamford Bridge club are yet to make an offer to beat the Reds’ bid but are the front-runners to complete the signing as Caicedo favours a move to Mauricio Pochettino’s side and has not agreed personal terms with Liverpool.
A dramatic and drawn-out transfer saga looked to be reaching a conclusion yesterday morning when Jurgen Klopp confirmed the clubs had shaken hands on a fee but Caicedo informed the Anfield club that he had his heart set on a move to Chelsea.
