Celtic praying they get the Tierney who set Parkhead alight rather than the injury-prone Arsenal benchwarmer

IT WASN’T perhaps the most glamorous of unveilings. Indeed, one would imagine grander plans are already being hatched for the summer.

Yet, there it was, in the midst of Celtic’s financial update earlier this week, the news that Kieran Tierney will - officially - be returning north after his deal with Arsenal expires.

‘During the January 2025 transfer window, we ... entered into a pre-contract agreement that will see Kieran Tierney return to Celtic in July 2025,’ said a statement from chairman Peter Lawwell, with little fanfare.

Of course, manager Brendan Rodgers had confirmed as much last month, when it had been hoped there was potential for a deal to be struck for the Scotland international to arrive a little earlier.
