Arsène Wenger: The Monaco years

Our Emirates Cup meeting with Monaco will see Arsène Wenger in attendance as he watches two clubs he served with distinction go head-to-head.

He may have been recently honoured with a statue outside Emirates Stadium, but Arsène is also an iconic figure in Monaco's history having spent seven years in charge of the club between 1987 and 1994.

He won the Ligue 1 title in his first season, and established Monaco as one of the top three clubs in French football. They would also win a Coupe de France under his management, and reach the final of the 1992 European Cup Winners Cup final and the semi-finals of the 1994 Champions League.
