Arsenal's Mohamed Elneny tests positive for coronavirus while on Egypt duty just days after international team-mate and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah's diagnosis

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has tested positive for coronavirus while on international duty with Egypt.

The 28-year-old's diagnosis comes a day before Egypt's African Nations Cup qualifier with Togo on Tuesday, but the midfielder will now return to Cairo despite being asymptomatic.

Elneny is now a doubt for Arsenal's next Premier League match against Leeds United on Sunday afternoon.

The news follows the coronavirus diagnosis of Egypt team-mate Mohamed Salah last week, who tested positive just days after attending his brother's wedding.

Elneny's agent, Alan Nzamy, tweeted: 'Elneny Positive Cov19 get well soon'.
