Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck wanted by Galatasaray in £16m deal as he weighs up options amid uncertainty over Arsene Wenger's future

Galatasaray are chasing Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck.

The Turkish club have made initial moves to sound out whether the England international would be interested in a move abroad and are willing to pay Arsenal the £16million they paid to Manchester United for him in 2014.

However, Galatasaray’s interest is likely to be in vain.

Welbeck is understood to be concentrating on finishing the season strongly before weighing up his options this summer with several of Arsenal's squad taking similar stock of their careers and waiting to see what decision Arsene Wenger takes.

Wages are not an issue for Galatasaray as they pursue players such as Welbeck but the 26-year-old is unlikely to be keen on moving to Turkey where the political environment remains volatile.
