And Emery's latest message to his biggest player was a challenge to be 'the best Mesut Ozil this season' this year.
The relationship between Arsenal's manager and star player was a major talking point last year though Ozil revealed this week that it is 'a really good one.'
When Emery admitted during the season that he likes to 'provoke friction' to try and get a reaction out of his players his treatment of Ozil started to make sense.
