Arsenal are hoping to reach a loan agreement with Werder Bremen for Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos.
The Gunners have made the PAS Giannina centre back, 20, their first signing of this winter window in a £2.2million swoop that stunned the Greek footballing world.
But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted his latest recruit is too inexperienced for Premier League football and will farm him out for the rest of the season.
Wenger said: "He is with us now, but the plan is for him to go out on loan to play somewhere.
"It can be a German club and I prefer him to play where he plays at the top level and gains experience.
