Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger should help pick his eventual successor, says owner Alisher Usmanov

Arsenal's second largest shareholder Alisher Usmanov has come out in support of manager Arsene Wenger, claiming that the Frenchman should play a role in choosing his successor.

Wenger's contract at the Emirates Stadium expires this summer, but with the club facing a fight to qualify for next season's Champions League, unrest has grown over whether he should be allowed to extend his 20-year stay in charge.

More protests are likely to be held on Monday night as the Gunners travel to face Crystal Palace, but ahead of the game at Selhurst Park, Wenger has received the backing of Usmanov.
